How To Clean the Inside of Your Body

You feel the need to do something about your health, to cleanse your body of the accumulation of unhealthy foods, toxins from pollution, smoking, drinking too much coffee, too much sodas or wine or sweet tea, a vegetarian detox diet for a weekend or a whole week can not only cleanse your body but it will give you a jump start on a healthier diet and better habits.

Step 1

Dice all the fruit to make a fruit salad. Cook 1/2 cup oatmeal with a cup of water and a pinch of salt. Eat the oatmeal and half the fruit for breakfast with a 2 tsp. of seeds.

Step 2

Combine the yogurt, juice of half a lemon, crushed garlic, mint and cilantro leaves. Stir until well combined. Store in your refrigerator.

Step 3

Combine the brown rice, barley, wheat berries and millet. Store in a canister. Measure out 1 cup of the mixture and simmer with 2 cups of water for 30 to 45 minutes over low heat until tender. Add a pinch of salt and stir with a fork, fluffing the mixture. Eat half of the cooked grains for lunch and half for dinner.  

Step 4

Prepare a salad with as much lettuce as you like, 1 1/2 cups of diced raw vegetables and 2 tsp. seeds. Dress the salad with olive oil and vinegar or lemon juice. Eat at lunch with half the mixed grains. Pour 1/4 cup of the yogurt sauce over the grains.

Step 5

Eat the remaining 1 cup fruit as a snack with 2 tsp. seeds.

Step 6

Heat the remaining mixed grains. Steam 1 1/2 cups mixed vegetables. Serve them together with 1/3 cup of the yogurt sauce.

Step 7

Drink eight, 8-oz. glasses of water during the day. Drink a cup or two of green tea during the day in addition to the water. Repeat this menu every day over the weekend, or for a whole week.

Your hair style may cause hair loss – Study

Certain hair styles may cause hair loss a new research has suggested.

19 studies which were reviewed by a team of researchers from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore and published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, found a relationship between scalp-pulling hair styles and gradual hair loss (traction alopecia).

The research says it is common among African and African-American women. Their hairstyles cause damage to the hair follicle because of tension at the hair root.

It also determined that chemical straightening of hair increases the damage caused by these hairstyles. The hair begins to break because the shaft of the hair would have become weakened.

Extensions, especially those in which adhesive is applied directly to the scalp, can also damage hair, leading to hair loss.

The research also added that use of heat straighteners on the hair, such as blow drying and the use of flat irons, could also weaken hair, leading to thinning and balding.

A professor of dermatology at Hopkins, Dr. Crystal Aguh, in a university news release said some hair styles meant to boot our self confidence lead to hair loss and scalp damage.

Aguh said, “Hair is a cornerstone of self-esteem and identity for many people but ironically, some hair styles meant to improve our self-confidence actually lead to hair and scalp damage.”

The researchers advised that extensions should be removed after six to eight weeks and braided hairstyles should not last longer than two to three months.

However, Untreated hair was found to be better at sustaining damage done to it during styling.

I Caught My Wife In Bed With Her ‘Brother’, Hubby Tells Court.

Lagos –  A 40-year-old man, Mr Sunday Oladipupo, has asked an Orile Agege Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve his marriage with Bukola over alleged adulterous behaviour by his wife. ”

I caught my wife in bed with her supposed brother, I want a divorce, ” Oladipupo, a driver, told the court on Thursday. The complainant lives at 7, Nmbosi Avenue, AIT Road, Alakuko, a suburb of Lagos told the court. “I caught my wife red-handed with a man she introduced to me as her brother, they were both naked and in the act. “She pushed me to beating her because I always feel jealous anytime I see her with another man. “Before I kill her and myself, it is better we part ways,” he said. Oladipupo claimed that Bukola did not respect him and left home at will and returned when she liked. He said that his wife left home since September 2015 with his children, aged four and nine years. “She was pregnant when she left my house but the most painful part was that her man friend called me on phone and told me to ask my wife about the paternity of our two children,” he said. The complainant told the court that he was tired of the union and wanted a divorce. However, Bukola denied the allegation but supported the dissolution of the union. “I am not adulterous and I was not pregnant when I left his house in 2015. ” I left home because he beat me anyhow, I did not have peace of mind with him, I am tired of the marriage, I support the dissolution,” she said. The Court President, Dr Kayode Whenu, told the couple to maintain the peace and adjourned the matter to May 10 for further hearing. (NAN)

Man starved of sex since 2012 gets divorce

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Thursday dissolved an 11 -year-old marriage between Mr Azeez Ige and his wife, Bola, over alleged sex starvation. The court’s president, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, in his judgment, said the court was convinced that the estranged couple was tired of the union, as all efforts to reconcile them had failed. “Since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage,

this court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage. “The marriage between Mr Azeez Ige and Mrs Bola Ige is hereby dissolved from today. “Both parties are free to go their separate ways without any hindrances and molestation.” Omilola ruled. Ige, a 53-year-old civil servant, had approached the court seeking to dissolve his marriage, on the grounds that the wife had starved him of sex since 2012. “My wife is starving me of sex, whenever I wanted to make love to her she always fights me and my body is not a stone nor stick.” he said. He also told the court that his wife was fetish, a drunk, and had once tried to strangle him, adding, “she held my neck and wanted to kill me but God saved me.”. According to him, Bola consumes excessive alcohol and misbehaves afterwards. The petitioner said that his wife had kept some strange materials like horns, calabash and other fetish items in his wardrobe. He added that the woman was in the habit of leaving her matrimonial home for up to a month without permission. “Whenever I question her she fights me. She always engages herself in a physical combat even with our son’s teachers when she goes there. “And she always fights me with knife, cutlass but will quickly rush to the police station to report and get me arrested.” he said. Bola, a 44-year old businesswoman, however, attributed her refusal to have sex with her husband to her fear of getting pregnant. “I denied my husband sex since 2012 because of my health condition. I gave birth to our only 10-year-old son through operation and I don’t want to experience such again.” Bola accused the husband of beating her frequently, a situation which made her to severally move out of their matrimonial home, to save her life.(NA

Bishop weds 109 couples

Most Rev. Mathew Audu, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Saturday in Masaka wedded 109 couples and urged in-laws not to interfere in their affairs.

Audu, who was on his third pastoral visit to St. Martin`s Catholic Church, Masaka, appealed to relatives of the new couples to allow them to build their marriages.

“As newly wedded couples, you must love each other just as Christ Jesus loved the church and died to set souls free.

“You must respect each other’s feelings; care for each other, share views and reason together in peace and unity.

“You must not allow a third party to come into your matter; always invite God to intervene in your case.

“Ensure that you are coordinated in all your dealings and make the word of God your standard, your pillar, your faith and your hope.

“If you can keep these entire commandments, your marriage will be perfect and other couples will want to copy from you,’’ he said.

The Bishop, who also confirmed 1,390 faithful, blessed 56 Eucharistic Ministers and 76 lectors, saying the blessing would strengthen their faith.

He said that the confirmation and the blessings the members received would energise them to evangelise to people and win more souls into the kingdom of God.

Audu said that confirmation in the Catholic Church was the sacrament which reaffirmed a person’s status in the church.

He advised the members who were confirmed to keep doctrines of the Catholic Church and ensure that they carried out responsibilities given to them diligently.

“The Catholic Church sees confirmation as a rite in which grace falls on the person confirmed as they announce their commitment to God and the Church,’’ he said.

Earlier, Rev. Fr. Jude Maigari, Parish Priest of the parish, said that the mass wedding was a culture imbibed by the church to enable couples with little finances wed in the church.

He encouraged the couples to heed the advice given by the bishop saying it would help them to live in peace and harmony.

Tourism, Culture will soon be bedrock of Nigeria’s economy – Buhari

ABUJA – President Muhammadu Buhari, Thursday, disclosed that Tourism and Culture which had been neglected in the past would soon be the bedrock of Nigeria’s economy. To this end, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed challenged the rural dwellers, who were blessed with rich country’s cultural heritages and tourist sites to live up to the responsibility of managing and protecting the sites for economic purposes. Buhari, who declared the 2016 National Summit on Culture and Tourism open, in Abuja, described Tourism as rejected stone that would be rejuvenated to address the dwindling economy of the country. Represented by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment, Dr Okechuwku Enelama, the President said though Culture and Tourism sector is driven by private sector all over the world, the government would provide conducive environment to encourage investment in the sector. He said; “As a result of the combination of various factors such as the sharp drop in the price of oil, combined breakdown of protectionist policies and changes in social relations, countries are compelled to look for alternative sources of revenue and employment. “Tourism therefore, is a resource of development and means of providing an additional opportunity for a non-industrialised country like ours, to diversify its economic base for the betterment of all. “Consequently, the road for us as a nation to achieve our set objectives of diversifying our economic base will depend partly upon the quality of design and implementation of tourism policies; we must develop appropriate policies and the right attitudes towards achieving the desired goals. “We are aware that the development of the tourism sector all over the world is largely Private-Sector-driven. However as evident in the 2016 Budget, this administration will continue to provide the required enabling environment for arts, culture and tourism to thrive and develop, through the massive upgrading of infrastructure and the provision of security. “We will continue to encourage public and private sector participation and partnership in all the desired areas including Transportation, Beach and Resort development as well as Tour operations, Hotel and Hospitality development. “As you are aware, culture generally represents the totality of the history and way of life of a people. Over the years, Nigeria is recognised to have a rich cultural heritage – not just in our arts and crafts but also in our ways of life. However, over time, as a result of so many experiences we seem to have lost the tenets of our cultural values; which are of integrity, honesty, sincerity and God-consciousness.” In his remarks, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, explained that the Summit was designed to explore all the various opportunities in tourism sector to improve the economy, calling on corporate bodies to join hands with the government. According to him: “the crash in the price of oil, the mainstay of our economy, has triggered a disaster for the economy. “But, this administration has decided to turn that distater to a blessing by diversifying the mono-product economy and widening our national revenue base. We want to turn adversity into sustanainbale fortune by tapping our National cultural heritage and tourism.” He maintained that the ministry had been working in the past six months quietly to see how best Nigeria reposition culture and tourism, adding that “the important of the tourism sector cannot be quantify because its the only sector that are pro-poor, pro-rural and pro-underpriviledge. “The sectors are not just about creating jobs or earning revenues, they also help stem rural-urban migration, forster unity, ensure holistic and inclusive growth as well reduce crime.” However, the Minister identified rural dwelller as the only challenge militating against the the tourism development in Nigeria. “The challenges is to get the rural folks as tourists guides, festival managers and protectors of the sites,” he said.

Looming strike in varsities, as ASUU accuses FG of allocation shortfall

The lecturers accused the Federal Government of stoking the embers of crisis when the university system was yet to fully recover from the damaging effects of a prolonged strike in 2013. The union said it was an unfortunate and sad development that the federal government was contributing to the threat to peace in the Nigerian university system by not sending enough money to pay salaries. Zonal Co-ordinator, ASUU, Benin Zone, Prof. Anthony Monye-Emina in a statement made available to journalists in Benin City, said the use of co-operative, welfare savings and union dues to make up for the shortfalls and the ridiculous handouts in whatever guise in place of salary was unacceptable. Prof. Monye-Emina said the union should not be held liable for any crisis in the Nigerian university system. He noted that most universities were under the burden of severe financial crisis, stressing that government was yet to proffer an explanation on when it would end. Emu a said: “In universities where full salary is seemingly paid, deductions for co-operative societies, welfare associations, union dues and so on, come in arrears. This implies that such deductions are accumulated to be able to make full payment of salary in subsequent months after which remittance is made.” “In essence, university staff savings is what is used to augment the shortfall. It is important to note that this accumulation of deductions/remittances is exclusive of tax deductions. This implies that tax deductions are remitted as at when due to the same government that does not feel obliged to avail the universities the full complement of their allocations. This development is in addition to shortfall in running, operational, logistics and other costs.”

The Yoruba movie star who posted her views on her Instagram page said she the incident occurred while she was trying to take in the course of a movie she was shooting in the Osogbo. Read her: ‘Morning Fam, it has come to my attention that news has been flying around that I was arrested by the police in Osogbo.

..For the records I was never ARRESTED! I was shooting a movie in osogbo and was going for a break with my PA and Driver when we saw a police van chasing us; they later double crossed us, came out of their van and started banging the bonnet of my car asking us to come down. I was shocked and scared because I didn’t know what was going on. I stepped out of the car to ask them what happened and why they double crossed us in that manner, the policemen started shouting and acting crazy pointing his gun at me.’ Mercy Aigbe She furthers: ‘On seeing his behaviour, i took out my phone and started to record them, one of them forcefully collected my phone from me. My PA also started recording them with an ipad and the policeman slapped her and threw the iPad away. At this point a lot of crowd had already gathered when they saw me and what was happening and they started booing them, saying that is how osogbo policemen harass innocent citizens. When the policemen saw the large crowd supporting us and that they could be mobbed, they stylishly left only to call for reinforcement of other Police officers. Those ones came and started shooting sporadically into the air, everyone had to run for their lives.’

Ondo Council Poll: When the People’s Will Prevailed

The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has conducted elections into the 18 Local Government Areas of the state. One of the very striking highlights of the election is that it was conducted, concluded and commended by all and sundry including the over 70 State electoral chairmen and commissioners from across the country and over 30 independent local and international observers. Apart from recording a massive turnout by voters, some including septuagenarians who had to walk some metres to ensure they performed their civic duties and exercised their rights to choose their leaders, the elections were not only free and fair but also peaceful and transparent throughout the state as there was no single incident of violence recorded anywhere. It is noteworthy to say that the election was also free from any form of manipulation, interference and or undue pressure from the state governor, Olusegun Mimiko, who provided a level playing field for all participants to vote and be voted for. This is the reason why the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, ACPN, also recorded victory at the polls despite being largely unknown in Nigeria’s political turf. With that election, the people of Ondo State have spoken loudly and clearly of where they would be aligning their support and votes at the state’s forthcoming gubernatorial election come November 26, 2016. With the massive victory recorded by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the election, the people have confirmed that they indeed know who their true leaders are. Despite the massive campaigns of calumny and propaganda embarked upon by members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, purportedly bankrolled by a certain godfather from Lagos whose penchant for acquiring states by imposing his lackeys as leaders through fraudulent and compromised electoral processes, the people have rejected them and their falsehood. You can only tell a blind man that there is no oil in the soup but you cannot tell him that there is no salt as he has tongue to taste it himself. The sophistry of the APC has found them out. Nigerians now know that all their promises are empty and easily deniable as is being done at the federal level. The people of Ondo State are wise; they have refused to repeat the same mistake Nigerians made at the 2015 presidential polls. The suffering which the APC government has subjected Nigerians to is legendary; their reversal of Nigeria’s good fortunes as handed to them by the last administration is unpardonable, and just like every sin, they must pay for their deceit and their knack for always taking Nigerians for granted. The only and best way to do this is to continue to reject them at all levels of governance including in Ondo State until we rid our nation of political parasites and paralytics who parade themselves as agents of change. No sane people would want to give their state up for destruction. Having married two wives, Nigerians now know which one is better, and the people of Ondo State have chosen the PDP whom by all standards they now agree is better. So, no matter the noise APC makes in Ondo State, Nigerians have heard it before: they were swayed the first time, but they would never be swayed by mendacity again. This much Ondo people said during the local government election. The fact that residents of Ondo State trooped out in their large numbers despite the scorching sun to vote massively for PDP at the council polls is a testimony to the fact that the desperate attempts by the state’s APC to discredit and malign the government of Olusegun Mimiko has hit the rocks. Such attempts have since become an exercise in futility and puerility. By those deliberate multiple actions of turning out massively, voting peacefully and orderly, and accepting the results of the election as a product of a transparent process, the people of the state have once again reaffirmed their faith in their governor and are ready to queue behind him to have his legacies continued by supporting and voting for the PDP in the next gubernatorial election. This is the way to go! INEC must also learn from the Professor Gbenga Ige-led Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission for the peaceful and transparent manner it conducted the election as confirmed by the Forum of State Independent Electoral Commission’s (SIECs) chairperson, Mrs Ukpong Gloria, who also led her colleagues from all over the federation to observe the state’s council polls. When the Ondo council poll is used as a model for elections in Nigeria, all the negative things that trail our electoral system including violence, ballot box snatching, intimidation, rigging etc would be a thing of the past and the people would always use their will to hire those they find fitting to lead them. This is what has happened in Ondo State, and this is what will happen again in the state come November 26, 2016 at the governorship polls. Congratulations, once again to the people of Ondo State!
