Rita Dominic, whose full name is Rita Uchenna Nkem Dominic Waturuocha, a popular Nigerian actress and movie producer was born on July 12, 1975.
As a young girl she attended the Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, before heading to the University of Port Harcourt, where she graduated with a BA (Honours) Degree in Theatre Arts in 1999.
The award winning actress is from the Royal Waturuocha family of Aboh Mbaise local government area in Imo State.
The Nollywood diva started performing as a child, appearing in school plays and children’s television shows in Imo.
In 1998, she starred in her first movie, “A Time to Kill” and won the City People Awards in 2004 as the Most Outstanding Actress. In 2012, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role and has so far starred in over 100 Nollywood productions.
In the course of her career, the Nollywood diva has been associated to quite a number of rumours ranging from marriage, relationship, pregnancy and unending feud with colleagues.
At a time, Rita was reported to have been in a relationship with Mikel Obi, the Nigerian football star, following pictures which surfaced online of the pair together. It was even reported that Mikel intended proposing marriage to her.
Another picture made rounds online, this time, Rita and Ghanaian actor John Dumelo appeared to be married. It was later confirmed that the picture was from a scene in a movie. She was also romantically linked with Jim Iyke.
Rita has said severally, that she does believe in marriage and hopes to have her own family someday, she maintained that marriage is a personal journey and she will settle at the right time.
While marriage rumours made rounds, Rita also had to deal with alleged feud with colleagues and friends, Monalisa Chinda and Ini Edo.
Despite all controversy, Rita dominic has however remained silent, making such accusations loose ground over time.
The acting guru has numerous endorsements and awards to her name, as a result of her on-screen prowess, which has grown better with time.
Rita Dominic who is known to effortlessly slay at any red carpet or event, has remained undaunted in her career.
She remains the ever talented actress and producer, whose charisma, elegance and class has given her an edge among her contemporaries.
